We offer over 25 innovative specialist chairs from a variety of leading manufacturers – but that doesn’t mean that finding the right seating solution should cause a headache. Our expert seating assessors talk us through how they can help you find the very best seating solution.
How can I find the most comfortable chair for me?
All our chairs are highly comfortable, but we understand that one size doesn’t fit all, and each client we meet requires a specific combination of features. One of the most important factors is fit – if the dimensions of the chair are correct, the chair is the right shape and it offers the correct level of support, we know we’re on our way to finding the ideal solution for you.
Once your perfect match has been found, there are a plethora of different options to personalise your chair, from backrest styles, headrests styles and various pressure relief cushions. All our chairs are highly adaptable which makes it easy to tailor them to you bespoke requirements.
What is pressure relief and why is it important in a chair?
When people spend a lot of time sitting or lying down, it makes them vulnerable to developing pressure sores or ulcers. These occur where individuals are unable to redistribute their weight, leading to prolonged areas of pressure on a particular area. The skin begins to break down and sores can develop. The impact of this can hugely effect someone’s quality of life in many ways including physically, socially, emotionally, spiritually and financially.
Our chairs all have integrated pressure relief which can be clinically backed through pressure mapping. We can also make bespoke alterations to your chair to increase the pressure relief where circumstances change over time. Alongside this, selected chairs offer the following benefits:
- Tilt-in-space mechanism: this mechanism allows to tilt the chair backwards and forwards, altering where the pressure is settling on the body.
- A choice of gel, memory foam or air cushions to protect particularly vulnerable areas like the bottom.
- Breathable fabrics that are vapour permeable and have a four-way stretch. This gives not only added comfort but protects vulnerable areas like the heels, elbows, backs of the legs and head and ears.
What are your most popular specialist chairs and why?
The Duo and Smartseat Pro are amongst our most loved specialist chairs. They feature unique multi-adjustable components which can be quickly and easily adjusted to ensure that a range of postural symmetries can be fully stabilised, accommodated and where possible, corrected, from the sacrum to cervical spine. They also both have medium to high degrees of pressure relief integrated throughout. These can be manipulated over time to continuously meet an individual’s needs as their posture change.
What are your top 5 bestselling chairs and why?
The Careflex HydroTilt, HydroFlex, Kirton Duo and Primacare Brecon Riser and Recline chairs have proven time and time again to meet the needs of our customers and their environment, with very few after sales issues.
Our experts would also recommend the Kirton Omega as a reliable chair that meets the needs of complex individuals with involuntary movements. This has proved to be a robust chair which can withstand the test of time and continues to be in high demand across the country.
Another notable choice is the Osprey Healthcare Tilt-in-Space Shower chair, which is incredibly adaptable and durable for individuals with a wide range of postural needs.
How can I personalise the look of my chair?
We have a complete range of colours and fabrics available, so each client can choose something that speaks to them. From durable and wipeable vinyl to vapour permeable fabric for areas that come into contact with the skin, our assessors will help find the fabric for you. Our Tilt-in-Space chairs also come with a Panvelle Stretch fabric for a more domestic, homely feel.
What is the lead time? When will I get my chair?
Our team are determined to get your chair to you as soon as possible and will keep you well-informed along the way. Lead times vary for 7 working days to 28 working days depending on the specification of the product. We advise to allow up to 6-8 weeks for Riser Recliners, however we offer a next day rental service across our range of chairs to help bridge the gap.
