In this way we always ensure that the chair user is as comfortable and supported as possible, with reduced risk of injury.
We thought it would be fun to ask Charlotte Jeffes, one of our very experienced team, to talk us through just a couple of recent examples.
Remedying leg length discrepancies in young chair users
“With this Kinder Contour chair I combined a bespoke split leg rest with split footplates and footplate beanbags. Then the left leg rest was set at a fixed negative angle and forward on the seat depth by 2.5cm to accommodate for the leg length discrepancy, and the right leg rest will still elevate. Now both feet can rest in comfortable contact with the footplate.”
Why is this important? “These adjustments brought the support that we needed to ensure the chair user can now maintain posture and balance, reducing strain and achieving real comfort, even when seated for a long time – a very pleased young customer”
And here’s another Kinder Contour success story – pretty in pink!
“Here we’ve added an additional cushion to accommodate the user’s leg length discrepancy. In this case we’ve added split bean bag footplate cushions and we been able to adjust the fill so that both feet can come into contact with the footplate. We also added ankle huggers and this fab padded tray.”
“And it’s lovely that the chair user has a great choice of colour way. I’m always exciting about that because it makes such a difference to the happiness of the young person we’re designing the chair for.”
