The HydroFlex Chair is an advanced seating system, which helps patients who are undertaking a rehabilitation programme. The specialist chair features are designed for a range of clients who require a combination of comfort, pressure management and posture control from their seating system.
The HydroFlex Chair features include;
- Tilt-in-Space – This allows the patient’s position to be adjusted without affecting their pelvic position.
- Back Angle Recline – The recline can be adjusted to provide a comfortable hip angle.
- Leg rest elevation – This will raise the patient’s legs whilst supporting the lower leg with the knees at a relaxed angle.
How to use the HydroFlex Chair
Here is our general overview on how to setup up your HydroFlex Chair.
Seat Height
The seat height depends on the patient’s individual needs. If the patient can stand, we recommend adjusting the chair so that their feet remain on the floor. This will reduce pressure on their thighs.
Seat Width
The correct seat width will support pelvic stability as it will align the spine centrally. It is important to allow for a small amount of movement as the patient will adjust their position throughout the day.
Seat Depth
A patient’s weight distribution must be even and prevent ‘sacral sitting’. Set the depth with the patient sat with their back firmly by the back cushion and adjust their position by moving the back of the chair over the seat unit.
Back Angle Recline
The recline will adjust the angle of the patient’s hips. A fully upright position is suitable when the patient is eating or active. During a rest period, the back angle can be reclined.
Leg rest
Lower the leg rest before moving the patient from the chair. The leg rest can be elevated depending on the patient’s requirements and hip angle position.
Tilt-in-Space
This feature enables the patient to feel stable and secure whilst distributing their weight correctly in the chair. When creating movement, make the patient aware of the changes to avoid distress.
HydroFlex Chair Maintenance
It is important to regularly check the chair for any signs of damage from excessive wear and tear. If the chair has become damaged it is important to contact your local CareFlex Distributor for advice.
Key points to consider:
- Keep the chair in a dry area to prevent damp.
- Avoid exposure to direct heat or naked flames.
- Clean the chair regularly to ensure stains are treated quickly (refer to the specific guidelines).
- Charge the batteries regularly for motorised chairs.
- For any structural issues or chair adjustment please contact CareFlex.
